How the Board Works
Officers and board members are elected at the chapter's Annual General Meeting, which is usually held during the business meeting of the annual conference. Board seats are staggered, with three-year, two-year and one-year positions, so that experienced members remain on the board while new members join. Recent elections have included the second vice president position as well as three-, two- and one-year board seats.
The board plans the annual conference, oversees chapter finances and membership, reviews applications for the chapter's training sponsorship program and represents the chapter within the International Association of Arson Investigators. Its authority and procedures are set out in the chapter's Constitution and By-Laws.
Serving on the Board
Members in good standing who are interested in running for a board position are encouraged to speak with a current board member before the Annual General Meeting. Serving on the board is a meaningful way to build leadership experience and help move the organization forward. Associate members may vote but, under the by-laws, may not hold elective office. Learn more in our membership guide, and read the latest President's Message.
Contacting the Board
Board members are the best first contact for questions about chapter membership, the membership application, the annual conference, training sponsorships and sponsor opportunities. If you are not sure who to ask, speak with any officer or board member at the next chapter event.
